Woman: Paradox or A Riddle
Dec 02, 2006
It seems that when God created Eve from Adam’s rib, he was creating the greatest paradox in the world. A woman is a creator of life; she gives birth to children, nurtures them and yet is given a status which is inferior to man.
A woman is biologically stronger than man, she can tolerate the greatest pain, yet world over women are physically assaulted by men. A woman’s emotional Quotient (EQ) is more than a man, yet it is she whose feelings are taken advantage of in a relationship. Yet the woman has thrived and continues to outshine men in all fields.
Today’s woman is a survivor. In spite of malpractices like female infanticide, child marriage practiced in many countries, women of the world continue to achieve greater heights in every field. In the Victorian age women were just an ornament in the drawing room or a damsel in distress who had to be rescued by a knight in shining armor.
Now, women are adept in protecting themselves and their families. Yet women of the world wrestle with a plethora of problems like weight loss and osteoporosis. While men can easily lose weight because of the large amount of testosterone in their bodies, women find it more difficult to lose weight.
This is due to the fact that nature has made a woman’s body suited to childbirth. Hence the fat is needed for pregnancy and its sustenance. Where a man can lose five kilos in 2 weeks, a woman requires a month to lose the same weight.
A woman’s skin is more delicate that man’s because she lacks the body hair found in man. Many women suffer from calcium deficiencies after pregnancy and lactation as calcium is extracted from the marrow for the baby.
Yes, women’s health problems are many, yet she is strong. Her strength lies in her patience and understanding. Her strength lies in creating and sustaining life. After all she is the creator of the universe: she is a mother.
